Recommendations for activities near Praia Verde

Just a 10 minutes drive from Praia Verde, Vila Real de Santo António is a Portuguese town with a Moorish influence. The peaceful town overlooks the Rio Guadiana and Spain. Be sure to stop by the fish market early in the morning to purchase the fresh catch of the day! Shrimps, oysters, tuna, octopus ... anything you can imagine! Wander down the town center for some souvenir shopping too.​

Cacela Velha, known for its delicious oysters and moorish architecture, is one of our old-time favourite spots to spend an afternoon. You can even spend a day on the beach there! We recommend the restaurant Casa Velha or Fábrica for the freshest oysters and seafood. For Casa Velha, it's first come, first serve, so be sure to arrive there early!

Castro Marim offers a tranquil countryside along the banks of the Guadiana. Here you can:

• Play golf in Monte Rei

• Contemplate the elegant pink flamingoes

• Visit the star-shaped fort

• Spoil yourself with a salt water spa treatment

During the summer months, Tavira is visited with dolphins that are migrating to their winter destination. A perfect day in Tavira could include booking a boat trip to find the dolphins and dining in Casa do Polvo Tasquinha for mouth-watering octopus dishes.

Praia Verde is situated 15-mins drive from the Spanish border.  We recommend visiting the following:

• Ayamonte (15 min) -- Small town where you can go souvenir shopping, snack on tapas and see Portugal across the river

• Seville (1h30) -- Explore and get lost in the endless, historical pedestrian streets in the old town. For a relaxing stay, we recommend the Aire Spa. For a more adventurous day, you can opt for the amusement park, Isla Mágica.
